AAMIR KHAN

Aamir Khan was first introduced as a child artist in the 1970's hit Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973) -- he was the youngest child in the trio. Aamir 'quit' movies and went on to become the state tennis champion for Maharashtra. Aamir also fell in love with the girl next door in the meantime. He proposed to her the day he turned 21, and she accepted. But apparently, there was opposition since she was from a Hindu family and he, from a devout Islamic one. So, they eloped, got married and returned to their homes. Aamir's wife Reena even appears in the song "Papa Kehte Hain" that made him the darling of the nation.




From the tremendous success of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), which was released when he was 23, he has blossomed into India's finest actor. That same year he set up his own production house called Aamir Khan Productions Ltd. In 2006 his movie "Rang De Basanti" went on to become one of the highest grossing films of that year.

KULBHUSHAN KHARBANDA

Actor Kulbhushan Kharbanda came to Mumbai from Kolkata to try his luck in films. Back in Kolkata, he was working for a firm by day and doing Hindi theatre with Padatik, a repertory company in the evening. That is, till he answered his inner call and landed in Mumbai for a fulltime career in films. He is born in 1941(68 years old).





The actor began his career at a time when the art cinema movement was doing quite well. He worked in films like Filmwala's Kalyug and Junoon. But he came into fame with his portrayal of the dreaded Shakaal in Ramesh Sippy's Shaan, which co-starred Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Parveen Babi and Shashi Kapoor. He even went bald for his role in the film. That performance may not be quite on par with the late Amjad Khan's portrayal of Gabbar Singh in Sholay, but it was definitely a very strong portrayal which caught the imagination of the public at large.

Another one of his wellknown films is Arth, where he plays the man caught in a triangle between his wife played by Shabana Azmi and mistress, played by Smita Patil. The actor has also worked for Shyam Benegal in Trikaal and Naseem, besides Junoon. He has also worked in all of Deepa Mehta's trilogy on elements, Earth, Fire and Water, besides Mira Nair's Monsoon Wedding. He has done many mainstream films as well like Gupt, Border, Hera Pheri, Lagaan, Lage Raho Munnabhai and the recent Jodhaa Akbar, Ru Ba Ru and EMI.

He also played the lead in the legendary Punjabi film Chan Pardesi, and the comedy Mahaul Theek Hai. Unfortunately, Kharbanda has been highly underrated as an actor, being slot mostly in the beleaguered father roles. It was directors like Sippy, Benegal, Mehta and Mahesh Bhatt, who had the conviction to cast him in different kind of roles.

Sanjay Khan

Sanjay Khan made his debut in the 1964 with Chetan Anand film Haqeeqat that followed by the Rajshri film Dosti. In the 1960s and 1970s Sanjay Khan starred in the movies Dus Lakh, Ek Phool Do Mali and Intaqam, Maharaja, Pushpanjali, Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.




Sanjay Khan also acted opposite his brother Feroz Khan in three films Upaasna (1971), Mela (1971) and Nagin (1976). Sanjay Khan turned director and producer of three films in which he played the leading role which were Chandi Sona (1977), Abdullah (1980) and Kala Dhanda Goray Log (1986).

After doing Kala Danda Goray Log Sanjay Khan to break from acting and moved onto featuring in and directing television series. In 1990 Sanjay Khan starred and directed the Indian TV series The Sword of Tipu Sultan.

Sanjay also starred and directed the Mega Indian TV series The Great Maratha. In the late 1990s he directed the TV-series Jai Hanuman. Some of the noted films of the actor are Trimurti (1974), Dhund (1973), Daaman Aur Aag (1973), Anokhi Pehchan (1972), Babul Ki Galiyaan (1972), Dharkan (1972),Wafaa (1972), etc.

Rajiv Kapoor

Rajiv Kapoor bollywood star and Rishi Kapoor's brother was born 25 August 1962. Rajiv is also a producer, director. Rajiv Kapoor had a short span in the Hindi film industry, acting in only 13 films.




Rajiv Kapoor's first film was Ek jaan hain hum that came in 1983 that also starred Divya Rana, Shammi Kapoor, Pran, and Gulshan Grover. Rajiv's next film was 1985 release Ram Teri Ganga Maili, starring opposite Mandakini and the film was directed by his father Raj Kapoor. The movie was the biggest hit of that year.

Rajiv Kapoor acted in a string of other unsuccessful films and made his last film appearance in Zimmedaar which released in 1990. Rajiv then decided to try his luck in production and direction of films.

The actor produced Henna (1991) which was directed by his brother Randhir Kapoor and then made his directorial debut with PremGranth (1996) which starred his brother Rishi Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit. But failing in direction too, he never directed any film again.

In 1999 Rajiv Kapoor produced Aa Ab Laut Chalen which was directed by his brother Rishi. Since then he has not been active in film producing or directing. Some of his films as an actor are Lava (1985), Mere Saathi (1985), Aasmaan (1984), etc.

Milind Soman

Ashish Vidyarthi

Ashish Vidyarthi who was born on June 19, 1962. The actor has also won a National Film Award for Best Supporting role for film Drohkaal in 1995. Ashish Vidyarthi moved to Delhi in 1969 and joined the Delhi Public School where he won acclaim for his performances as an actor in both dramatic and comedic roles.





Ashish Vidyarthi began acting in minor roles and got his break in an S.V Paranjpe serial. Since then he kept on acting in a number of minor serials in regional languages and in appeared in Ghutan, a major Hindi serial in the 1990s.

Ashish's break in Hindi cinema came with Naajayaaz and Baazi. The actor soon began appearing as a typical villain. As a result most of his films were not top of the line and were more of standard commercial masala fare. He did have some hits like Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai.

He also acted in supporting roles in some films such as Ek Rishta or a comic villain in Jodi No.1 and Haseena Maan Jayegi, Koi Kisi Se Kum Nahin, Ziddi, 1942: A Love Story. His 2009 releases are Lahore, Red Alert: The War Within, Kisse Pyaar Karoon.

Nana Patekar

Nana Patekar is a highly acclaimed Indian actor and filmmaker. Nana Patekar is known for his brash style of delivering his dialogues. Nana Patekar is also a sketch artist having sometimes helped the Mumbai Police to track criminals.

Nana Patekar acted in movies such as Mohre (1987) and Salaam Bombay! (1988) and villain in the 1989 film, Parinda. Nana was awarded the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for the role. He also won the Filmfare Best Villain Award in 1992 for Angaar.

In 1994 Nana won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Krantiveer (1994). He also won the Filmfare Award and the Star Screen Awards in the best actor category.

Nana Patekar has played various type of roles and has given outstanding performances in each role. He played a truant, gambling son in Krantiveer (1994), a wife beater in Agni Sakshi (1996), a deaf and dumb father to his then off-screen lover Manisha Koirala in Khamoshi: The Musical (1996) and a schizophrenic in Wajood (1998).

Nana turned director with his movie Prahaar: The Final Attack co-starring Madhuri Dixit. His other films as an actor include Hu Tu Tu and Bluff Master. For his performance in Apaharan, he received the Filmfare Best Villain Award as well as the Star Screen Award Best Villain. Patekar has also done some playback singing in the films Yeshwant (1997), Wajood (1998) and Aanch (2003).

Om Puri

Om Puri the Indian actor appeared in both mainstream Indian Cinema films as well as art films. His credits also include appearances in British and American films. Om Puri made his film debut in the 1976 film Ghashiram Kotwal, and the film was based on a Marathi play. Also nominated for the BAFTA award for his performance in East is East, Om Puri was awarded an honorary OBE in July 2004 for his performances in English movies.




In the 1980s he also made two highly successful Punjabi films called Chan Pardesi (1980) and Long Da Lishkara (1986). Om Puri was critically acclaimed for his performances in many unconventional roles such as a victimized tribal in Aakrosh (1980), Ardh Satya (1982), Maachis (1996) and Gupt in 1997.

Om Puri also had a cameo in the highly acclaimed film Gandhi (1982) and the film was directed by Richard Attenborough. Om Puri also acted in British films such as My Son the Fanatic (1997), East is East (1999) and The Parole Officer (2001). He also performed in Hollywood films like City of Joy (1992), Wolf (1994) and The Ghost and the Darkness (1996). In 2005 he starred in the film, The Hangman. In 2007, he appeared as General Zia-Ul-Haq in Charlie Wilson's War, which stars Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts.

Om Puri has also worked in Hindi TV serials like Kakkaji Kaheen (1988) and Mr. Yogi (1989). Om Puri also essayed comic roles in Hindi films like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron which reached a cult status, followed by Chachi 420 (1997), Hera Pheri (2000), Chor Machaye Shor (2002) and Malamaal Weekly (2006).

Om Puri also starred in Singh Is Kinng, Mere Baap Pehle Aap Also nominated for the BAFTA award for his performance in East is East, Om Puri was awarded an honorary OBE in July 2004 for his performances in English movies.Aap and Billu Barber. He has been honoured with the two most prestigious awards in the Indian film industry, which are the National Film Awards and the Filmfare Awards. He also received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.

In 1984 for his performances in Ardh Satya and in 1982 for Arohan the Bollywood star won the National Film Award for Best Actor twice. In 1981 he won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for his role in Aakrosh. He was also honoured Padma Shri by the Indian government for his various contributions to parallel and commercial films in 1990.

Ritesh Deshmukh Biography

Ritesh Deshmukh was born on December 17, 1978. He completed his education from G. D. Somani High School and Kamala Raheja School of Architecture in Mumbai. He is son of Vilasrao Deshmukh, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra.




He made his debut in 2003 with Tujhe Meri Kasam in which he co-starred Genelia D'souza which was average at the box office. He then did the lead role in Out of Control. He became a known face after the 2004 comedy Masti, again co-starring Genelia, which established him as an actor.

He has mainly taken on comic roles and a few serious roles. He has appeared in several comedy films including Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, Malamaal Weekly and Apna Sapna Money Money. He appeared in a supporting role in Bluffmaster with Abhishek Bachchan in the lead. He acted in one of the stories in Darna Zaroori Hai alongside Amitabh Bachchan.

In 2007, he was first seen in a guest appearance in Namastey London and then the multi-starrer action film Cash which was a box office failure. Later that year, he appeared in Sajid Khan's directorial debut Heyy Babyy, co-starring Akshay Kumar and Fardeen Khan, which was a worldwide hit and his most commercially successful film to date.

In 2008, his films De Taali and Chamku, both failed at the box office.

His upcoming films in 2009 are Aladin, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez and Juhi Chawla, Ram Gopal Varma's Rann and Do Knot Disturb along with Govinda, Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta.

He is currently working on Sajid Khan's Housefull along with co-stars Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Jiah Khan and Lara Dutta.
