Om Puri

Om Puri the Indian actor appeared in both mainstream Indian Cinema films as well as art films. His credits also include appearances in British and American films. Om Puri made his film debut in the 1976 film Ghashiram Kotwal, and the film was based on a Marathi play. Also nominated for the BAFTA award for his performance in East is East, Om Puri was awarded an honorary OBE in July 2004 for his performances in English movies.




In the 1980s he also made two highly successful Punjabi films called Chan Pardesi (1980) and Long Da Lishkara (1986). Om Puri was critically acclaimed for his performances in many unconventional roles such as a victimized tribal in Aakrosh (1980), Ardh Satya (1982), Maachis (1996) and Gupt in 1997.

Om Puri also had a cameo in the highly acclaimed film Gandhi (1982) and the film was directed by Richard Attenborough. Om Puri also acted in British films such as My Son the Fanatic (1997), East is East (1999) and The Parole Officer (2001). He also performed in Hollywood films like City of Joy (1992), Wolf (1994) and The Ghost and the Darkness (1996). In 2005 he starred in the film, The Hangman. In 2007, he appeared as General Zia-Ul-Haq in Charlie Wilson's War, which stars Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts.

Om Puri has also worked in Hindi TV serials like Kakkaji Kaheen (1988) and Mr. Yogi (1989). Om Puri also essayed comic roles in Hindi films like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron which reached a cult status, followed by Chachi 420 (1997), Hera Pheri (2000), Chor Machaye Shor (2002) and Malamaal Weekly (2006).

Om Puri also starred in Singh Is Kinng, Mere Baap Pehle Aap Also nominated for the BAFTA award for his performance in East is East, Om Puri was awarded an honorary OBE in July 2004 for his performances in English movies.Aap and Billu Barber. He has been honoured with the two most prestigious awards in the Indian film industry, which are the National Film Awards and the Filmfare Awards. He also received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.

In 1984 for his performances in Ardh Satya and in 1982 for Arohan the Bollywood star won the National Film Award for Best Actor twice. In 1981 he won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for his role in Aakrosh. He was also honoured Padma Shri by the Indian government for his various contributions to parallel and commercial films in 1990.

Akshay Kapoor-Biography

Akshay Kapoor was born in India and moved to the United States when he was 10 years old. Akshay made his Bollywood film debut with the teen romantic comedy Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao which released in 2004.




In the year 2006 Akshay Kapoor starred in his second Bollywood film Alag, a remake of the Hollywood film Powder in which he portrayed the role of a man with extraordinary supernatural powers. Although both his films failed at the box office but he has got good reviews for his performances in both films.

Akshay Kapoor has also appeared in a short film called A Beautiful Mind... of a Gladiator and in 2008 the actor appeared in an American comedy film titled Spring Broke.
