Mahesh Manjrekar born on 13 May 1953,Mumbai is a Bollywood actor,writer,director and producer.He is famous for making films that are out of the box yet appealing to the masses.The multi faceted personlity began his acting stint in the year 1984 in a Aflatoon,a Marathi play following several other plays like Doctor Tumhisuddha,Gidhade,Akashmaat etc.
His venture into direction began with a Marathi film Aai which got him the Filmfare Best Director Award and the Screen Videocon Award of the Year.
He came into limelight with his box office success Vaastav in the year 1999 starring Sanjay Dutt and Astitva in 2000.He had a run of bad luck with his following films which could not lure the audiences to the cinema theaters.These flop films included Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai,Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav and It Was Raining That Night.
After a list of bad films,a few that stood out were Kaante(2002) and Viruddh...Family comes First in the year 2005.
