But the battle for the 2nd slot is fiercely open and the 3 major actors contesting for this position are:
1. Shahrukh Khan: He is rightly regarded as the ‘King Khan’. Even though, Aamir may have surpassed him, of late, let’s not forget that SRK hasn’t had a major release this season barring ‘My Name is Khan’. But with ‘Don 2’ and ‘Ra. One’ slated for 2011, SRK may leap back to the number 1 slot. As of now, he can claim the 2nd spot.
2. Salman Khan: Dabangg may have raised his stakes but the majority of his last few releases have been flops or average. Though, Dabangg does bear testimony to his humongous fan-following, he needs to show more consistency to fill the no. 2 spot.
3. Hrithik Roshan: Had ‘Kites’ been a mega hit, the story would have been different. But his last hit being ‘Jodha Akbar’ (that was quite some time back), he is not in a position to claim the 2nd rung. However, with ‘Guzaarish’ looking tempting and promising, the stakes can heavily change in his favour after November 19th.
So, presently, SRK seems to be the right person to sit on the 2nd slot. But remember, it’s a numbers game. And one film can make you or break you.
