Makrand Deshpande

Mostly we all have noticed Makrand Deshpande in some small, strange, comical and different kind of roles. He is the one who appeared as a “fakir” in the song “yuhi chala chal rahi…” from the movie Swades which starred Shahrukh Khan in the lead role. Makrand is a skillful writer, actor and director in Marathi as well as Hindi movies.

Makrand Deshpande has played certain pivotal and supporting roles in different Hindi films like Sarfarosh, Jungle, Makdee, Swades, Darna Zaroori Hai etc. He has been associated with theater also. The actor who resides in Vile Parle(E) Mumbai, has studied at BPM school. Till now Makrand has directed more than 5 films.

Makrand Deshpande has also written around 19 full-length plays. He has also written around twelve short plays. Some other popular movies in which Makrand has acted include Khatta Meetha, Yun Hota To Kya Hota, Darna Zaroori Hai, Rahul, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena, Swades, Paisa Vasool etc.
