Emraan Hashmi Biography

Emraan Hashmi was born 1979 in Mumbai, to a Muslim father and a
Catholic mother. He later changed his name to Farhan Hashmi and then
reverted to his original name with an extra ‘a’.

Emraan made his debut with a dud film Footpath in 2003.

However, his next film Murder shot him to fame; this was his first hit.
The next few movies like Zeher, Kalyug and Gangster have also managed
to do well at the box office.

His last year film Jannat was among the few hits of the year. This
year release blockbuster Raaz - The Mystery Continues have worked
quite well at the box office too.

The sound tracks of all these films were instant hits and helped the
actor create a huge fan base. The playback singers for most of his
songs are Himesh Reshammiya and KK. The music of Pritam also spells
magic for Emraan in films like Gangster, Awarapan and Jannat.

His forthcoming film is Tum Mile opposite Soha Ali Khan,24x7/Raftaar
and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai.
He is the official ‘serial kisser’ of Bollywood.

Apparently, in a recent interview Emraan said that if the kiss is
necessary to the story of the film, he will surely go through with it.
However Emraan also did state he is getting fed up with the label of
'serial kisser' and plans on doing more films where he will be
appreciated for his acting only. This is proved in his most recent
film, Raaz - The Mystery Continues, where he had no kissing scenes and
the film was a huge box office success.

Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt is his uncle and actress turned
director Pooja Bhatt is his cousin. He is also related to singer Atif
Aslam. The actor also has many other relatives and close friends in
Karachi, Pakistan. He graduated from Sydenham College in Mumbai.

He is married to Parveen Hashmi.
